Ben Wineman is the evening news anchor of Montana Right Now. He is a 2016 graduate of the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University, where he graduated with Honors, and earned minors in Sports Management, Political Science, and History.
Since 2018, Ben has anchored from the desk with Angela Marshall. He is also in charge of the “Help Me Ben” series, where he works to find solutions for Montanans.
In 2020, Ben was named a finalist for the E.B. Craney “Broadcaster of the Year” Award from the Montana Broadcasters Association. He also hosted and anchored the Emmy award-nominated 30 minute special “Gertie’s Babies”, about one Butte doctor selling babies on the black market during the 1940s and 1950s.
Ben joined MRN as a sports anchor in May of 2016. For two and a half years, he covered the Montana Grizzlies, Montana State Bobcats, local high school sports, minor league baseball, and everything else that comes with a very active sporting community in Western Montana. During his time reporting on sports, he was a runner up for the E.B Craney “Sportscaster of the Year” award.
Ben met his Missoula born-and-raised wife Ashley, and has been married since 2020. Ben’s mother and father met and graduated from the University of Montana, so he has enjoyed a homecoming of sorts, starting his own family in the Treasure State. Ben grew up in Woodinville, Washington, 45 minutes outside of Seattle.
Ben is an Eagle Scout, and avidly follows the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, Washington State Cougars, and Michigan Wolverines. When he is not on television, Ben enjoys playing golf, going out to the movies, watching sports, making Costco trips with his wife, and eating PB&Js whenever he can.
