BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - Montana Democrat Jon Tester has won a third term in the U.S. Senate by beating Republican Matt Rosendale. Tester won Tuesday's close election despite President Donald Trump taking a personal interest in defeating him

Robert Skorupa will be the new Pondera County Sheriff. He took in 71% of the vote over Ross Drishinski. All precincts have reported for Pondera County.

According to an NBC News estimate, Democrats have a 90 percent chance of reclaiming the House majority. The estimate says Dems could win as many as 33 seats. The call came as polls began to close on the east coast and NBC began projecting victories for Democratic candidates in some big congressional races in Virginia, Florida, Colorado and elsewhere.

As polls close at 8 PM in Montana, elections officials are reporting record turnouts for a midterm election. Anyone who gets in line by 8 PM is eligible to vote. Missoula County records 73 percent return for absentee ballots as of 2:30 PM.

U.S. Senator Jon Tester campaigned alongside U.S. Congressional candidate Kathleen Williams and supreme court clerk candidate Rex Renk on Monday morning at the University of Montana.  Senator Tester highlighted issues popular among college students.
