MISSOULA, Mont. - One organization in Montana wants to end hunger in every part of the Treasure State.
The Montana Food Bank Network (MFBN) had a groundbreaking ceremony today in Missoula, where they launched the biggest fundraising effort in their history.
NonStop Local’s Alaina Margo attended this event today as the MFBN launched a 15-million-dollar fundraising campaign.
The MFBN calls it the "Campaign for Bigger Impact" and their goal is to distribute more fresh food to all of their partners throughout the Treasure State. Support and excitement were strong today.
“It is an amazing point in our career and in our history of the Montana Food Bank network, to be able to think that we have gotten the commitments that we have from our donors, that we are actually at that point where we can build the facility of our dreams to be able to serve the entire state of Montana,” said Gayle Carlson, President & CEO of MFBN.
According to the MFBN, more and more Montanans are utilizing these services - as pandemic-era support tapers out and inflation rises. 12 of the 15 million dollars has already been raised.
“We have some more contacts to work with, foundations, corporations, individual donors and so on. And then we are hoping that the public will step up and help us with $1 million of this campaign,” said Carlson.
The planning of this campaign has been in the works for years -- and its start is finally coming to fruition.
