Monday night shooting victim identified, had order of protection against him

UPDATE (03/02/2020): Cascade County Attorney Josh Racki has charged Phillip McClendon with assault for the role court documents say he played in a shooting from July 2018.

Court documents state Jeremy Walker, the victim in the case, walked up to McClendon at the 2J's Market parking lot late at night on July 9th 2018.  McClendon told police Walker pulled a gun out.  He then wrestled the gun away from Walker and shot him with it.

Walker was rushed to Benefis Hospital where he survived several gun shot wounds.

McClendon is charged with aggravated assault and assault with a deadly weapon.

Jeremiah Norbert Walker was shot several times after an altercation with another man, according to court documents.

KFBB also learned that one of the people arrested in connection to the shooting, Brianna White, filed a 5-page order of protection against Walker last month.

The restraining order stated that White and Walker had an intimate relationship in the past. However, according to court documents, Walker became violent and abusive. White filed for a temporary restraining order which required him to stay at least 1,500 feet away from her, as well as attend violence counseling and anger management. The order was filed on June 5th but on June 21st, the day of the hearing White advised the court she no longer wanted the order of protection in place.

Walker has quite the rap sheet and in 1999 he was charged with aggravated assault felony assault and in 2003 he was charged with aggravated kidnapping. Cascade County Attorney Joshua Racki and he said Walker is expected to make a full recovery from his injuries. This is still an ongoing investigation and no charges have been filed yet.

UPDATE (5:37 P.M.) According to Great Falls Police Department, they arrested 26-year-old Brianna White and 27-year-old Phillip McClendon in connection to the shooting on July 9.

However, they were arrested on probation violation charges, and have not been charged with the shooting.

Great Falls Police Detective Sgt. Jason Mitchell told KFBB one man was shot and transported to the Benefis Hospital. The man is expected to recover.

KFBB reached out to business owners around 2J’s Fresh Market who said the GFPD told them about the shooting and asked for surveillance footage. There is no threat to the public.

UPDATE (9:43 A.M.) According to Cascade County Attorney, Josh Racki, two people are in custody in relation to the crime. They are arrested on a probation violation, but no charge has been filed.

Although we do not know the type of weapon used, we do know that the bullets were from a .25 caliber gun.

UPDATE (12:07 P.M.) According to Great Falls Police, one male has sustained "several" gunshot wounds in Monday evening's altercation. They do believe them to be non-life threatening.

GFPD also tells KFBB there is no threat to the public, however they are not currently releasing any further information about the incident or if a suspect is in custody.

Just before 11:00 Monday evening, an altercation shut down the parking lot to 2J's Fresh Market on Smelter Avenue in Great Falls.

Great Falls Police, Great Falls Fire Rescue, and Great Falls Emergency Services all responded. As of 11:30pm, the parking lot is still blocked off by crime scene tape with several officers on the scene.

Very little information is currently available, and GFPD has been unable to comment as of yet, but neighbors on the scene tell KFBB they saw at least one person being taken away on a stretcher, with a second person being questioned by police. Neighbors also say it appeared as though police were searching the parking lot for more evidence, such as a shell casing. None of this has been confirmed by authorities.

We will continue to update you as more information becomes available.
