The mysterious creature that captivated the nation after it was shot and killed near Denton in May has been identified. Montana Fish, Wildlife, & Parks says the animal is, in fact, a wolf. The carcass was sent to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service forensic laboratory in Oregon.      Montana waterways facing an invasive threat, but Fish, Wildlife, and Parks is now fighting back, hiring a new director to lead their Aquatic Invasive Species bureau. Tim Woolfe is an expert in aquatic invasive species. He served as the Aquatic Manager for the Idaho Agricultural Department. It's spring time and humans aren't the only ones who are getting out and about in the warmer weather. Grizzly bears are also becoming more active and a recent study found they are expanding their territory as well. According to the inter-agency grizzly bear study team, there has been an 11% increase in the bear's range in the last few years. 

Montana fish and wildlife commission approved a new rule this week--clearing the way for the state's "apprentice hunter" law.  The law was enacted earlier this year by the state legislature. It allows youth ages 10 to 17 years old to obtain a certification to purchase some Montana hunting licenses before completing a hunter education course.     Apprentice hunters, however, are required to be accompanied by an adult mentor.    ...
